The Worcester County Health Department is offering a FREE school-based flu clinic for students on 10/2/25. Parents may schedule an appointment to have their children vaccinated during the school day or afterward if parents would like to be present. If you plan to have your child vaccinated during the school day and will not be present, please be sure to complete the emailed consent form prior to the appointment. Thank you to State Librarian Morgan Lehr Miller and Maryland State Library Agency staff who visited the school libraries at Stephen Decatur High, Snow Hill Middle, and Buckingham Elementary schools on Tuesday to see our innovative spaces and talk with students, teachers, and administrators about the benefits of having access to instruction, tools, and information through the library. #WeAreWorcester #PartnershipsInAction

At this time, Buckingham Elementary School has been evacuated due to an accidental fire alarm activation. Out of an abundance of caution, all students and staff were safety evacuated from the building, but are returning now. The safety of those involved remains our priority, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Good afternoon BES families!! We had a wonderful first week of school! We were excited to see the progress our students have made in just that short time. Starting tomorrow, we are encouraging all students to walk independently to class. Our amazing staff members are available around the building to help navigate all of our of students to their class if they need assistance. Looking forward to another great week of learning and remember this week is our back to school night on Thursday, September 11 from 5-7! Come out and learn what the year will be like for your student from our instructional leaders and teachers. Thank you and have a wonderful week.

Our first round of Weekend Food Bags went home yesterday with students who signed up over the summer. A paper copy of the sign-up form will be sent home with every child.

For tracking purposes, each student MUST have their own form completed, even if there are multiple children in the same family who attend Buckingham.

Please note that our attendance incentive guidelines have been updated to align with initiatives to reduce Chronic Absenteeism.

Quarterly Incentives (Grades K–4):

Students may miss no more than 2 days per month (excused or unexcused) to participate.

Quarter 1: Glow Dance

Quarter 2: Winter Wonderland

Quarter 3: Tie Dye

Quarter 4 Special Reward: Students with exceptional attendance will be invited to a special field trip. Details will be shared later in the year.

Monthly Incentives:
For students who may not qualify for the larger events, we will also be offering smaller monthly incentives to encourage consistent attendance.

We’re excited to share that SonRise Church will once again sponsor Buckingham’s Weekend Food Bag Program for the 2025–2026 school year.

We’re grateful for their continued partnership!

Every child will receive a paper form during the second week of school, but you can enroll electronically now to begin receiving bags Thursday, September 4th.

Families who enroll electronically or return the paper form will be signed up through November 2025.
